Putting The "Om" in Classroom...

Proof positive that meditation in the classroom works! That's why I published my guided meditation based on
what I used with my Pre-K students...

Calling all Parents, Teachers & Anti-Bullying Groups!

Getting ready to run another Kindle Countdown Deal on my children's book, I Am Special -- The Power is in ME! from Saturday, November 1st - November 8th. Sale price will be 99¢ and it can be downloaded to your Kindle or computer.
Please share this with friends and family! Thanks so much!
Here's a description:
"Miss Jodi" Sykes was a former Early Childhood Educator who realized the importance of using guided meditation in her classroom - from a five minute filler to a way for the children to transition into a peaceful naptime, it was a valuable way for children learn how to connect to their inner selves and focus on relaxation. Jodi knows the importance of teaching these skills to children at a young age and she hopes that you will, too.
This book was one of her original meditations and there will be more to follow in the Empowering Children series.

I ♥ Synchronicity!

One big lesson I've learned in my life is, that once we follow our bliss and live authentically, these actions get the proverbial ball rolling. Opportunities arise. Like-minded people "find" each other. Everything begins to fall into place.
I recently received an email from Anthea Whitlock who has an awesome blog called, Kids in the Flow. She read about my children's book on another website and then asked if she could feature it on her blog -- of course I said, "YES!"
Here's the blog post she wrote:
Take some time to read through Anthea's site . . . . she's a woman, who's on a mission to empower children (and adults)
and to help them to realize just how special they are!
Thanks, Anthea for all that you do! ♥

I ♥ Positive Feedback!

I received some wonderful feedback from my cousin this week regarding my book, I am Special -- The Power is in ME! Her grandsons were visiting and she shared the book with them. Not only were they impressed that she actually knew a REAL author, it opened up a huge discussion about their importance and self-worth.

One of them had mentioned that he didn't like going to school because some of the children were mean. She re-read the book before putting them to bed.

The next morning, she fed them breakfast and got them ready for school. They stepped out onto the porch and before she could lock the door, one of the boys said he had forgotten something and he went running back inside while her and the other grandson stood on the porch waiting. It seemed to be taking him quite longer than she expected so she went inside to investigate.

She found him sitting in a lotus position on the living room floor, eyes closed, practicing his breathing before going to school! And, THAT, my friends is beyond awesome!

I've received emails from teachers who are using it in the classroom now and are getting excellent results so please pass this on to any child you love and adore...it's a great way to teach them the self-love and inner guidance they'll need in their lives! Thanks so much!

♥ End Bullying - Empower Children Early! ♥

When I published, I am Special -- The Power is in ME this year, my intent was to start teaching children from a young age that they M-A-T-T-E-R! When you provide them with that foundation of knowing that they have an inner power that they can tap into at any given time, they will receive a gift that will last a lifetime.

I am Special -- The Power is in ME does just that. Children are born with the innocence and purity of not having any limitations on what they can or cannot do. This book teaches focus. Strength. Love for others. Respect. And most of all, a way to sit and listen to what they are feeling. If they are faced with difficult issues, they can go to that sacred space inside of themselves and sort through everything. And as adults, we need to cherish each and every child we meet and let them know that they ARE special and strong and can do anything they want.

The feedback that I've received from parents as well as Early Childhood educators has been wonderful. Many teachers are using this book in the classroom and have set aside "quiet time" throughout the day to help their students re-group and unwind when needed. That makes me so happy because I know first hand how guided meditation and quiet time helped in my Pre-K classroom.

If you are an organization that works with Bullying, then this book will help your little ones tremendously. When children learn that they are empowered, and they become more aware that other students in their classroom or groups are working together for a more peaceful environment, miracles happen. You will begin to see a more sensitive, and empathetic side to them and they will become mentors towards their peers....it's amazing!

So, give this book a try and please report back to me with any feedback you may experience afterwards!
